All KOLD-DRAFT® Commercial Ice Machines Meet New California Energy Standards

January 4, 2010—KOLD-DRAFT®, a leader in the manufacture of high quality, innovative ice machines, announces that all of its commercial ice machine models meet the California Energy Commission’s 2008 Building Energy Efficiency Standards, effective January 1, 2010.

KOLD-DRAFT Engery Efficient Ice MachinesThe Standards were established to reduce California's energy consumption, and state in part that energy efficiency is the resource of first choice for meeting California's energy needs. KOLD-DRAFT
ice machines have been carefully developed to be more energy- and water-efficient than standard ice machines.

The Building Energy Efficiency Standards encouraged many manufacturers to re-engineer their machines to make them more energy efficient. Unfortunately, many used shortcuts to make more energy-efficient ice machines, with the result that their ice melts faster. Their machines were also redesigned to create cubes with deep depressions or odd shapes, which freeze faster. But this also increases surface area on the finished cube, and surface area has a direct correlation with the melt rate. KOLD-DRAFT is known for its denser, more solid ice, and does not under any circumstances shortchange the re-engineering process by reducing the quality of their finished product.

About KOLD-DRAFT
Since 1955, KOLD-DRAFT® has been manufacturing ice machines that produce “The Best Ice in the World." KOLD-DRAFT’s exclusive “upside-down" horizontal evaporator ice-making system produces pure, solid, sparkling ice that cools faster, melts slower, and doesn’t distort the taste of beverages. KOLD-DRAFT machines have a longer life cycle and a three-year warranty on all parts and labor, making them the least expensive to own.
